Apr 2010 - It's Not All Doom and Gloom

news-paul-thompsonIt's not all doom and gloom, says Voyager's Sales Director, Paul Thompson.

If you have read today's (9th April) interview with Sir Peter Gershon's in the Financial Times, you will have heard about his projection of widespread recruitment freezes as well as cuts in agency spending by the public sector.

In the interview, Sir Peter outlines how the Conservative Party would have to make up to £2bn in savings on the public sector payroll in the first year after the general election, as part of the party’s proposed £12bn efficiency plans.

Paul Thompson says, “Recruiters are a resilient bunch. Good Recruiters, with technology, give themselves the ability to follow the market and its trends. In recent years Voyager agencies have moved into Public Sector Recruitment and any cuts are only likely to encourage pro-active Recruiters move to more lucrative markets. For some niche Agencies this may be cause for concern, but for many it’s what Recruitment is all about”.

Sir Peter has already been confirmed as keynote speaker at REC's Public Sector Summit scheduled for June 8th in central London (http://www.rec.uk.com/resourcing/conference). Let's see what he has to say!
